Can the Christmas season really begin without a parade to kick things off? The residents of Palestine sure don’t think so. They make sure to get things going on a festive note every year with the beloved Christmas Parade of Lights.
This year’s parade is set for Saturday, December 1 at 7 p.m. As always, the parade will feature beautiful lighted floats and marching bands making their way through the streets of Palestine until they reach the historic Anderson County Courthouse for its much-anticipated lighting. That’s where Santa will be waiting, sitting in front of the brightly lit courthouse tree and waiting to hear all your Christmas wishes.
Parade Particulars
This year’s parade has the playful theme of Christmas in Toyland. Prepare to see some imaginative, whimsically designed floats and displays as parade participants vie for first place. Prizes are awarded in several categories, so you’ll see some hot competition. The parade starts at the Anderson County Courthouse, proceeds down Avenue A, turns right on Main Street, turns right on Queen Street, turns right on Lacy Street, and finishes up back at the courthouse for the lighting of the courthouse tree and visits with Santa.
