Do you know any good little boys and girls who deserve to go to the North Pole? If so, get them a ticket for the Polar Express. The Texas State Railroad is running special trips to the North Pole from Nov. 11–Dec. 27. Trains depart in the afternoon and evening, and the trip includes a heavy dose of fun. The kids will drink hot chocolate, eat cookies, and read along with the book “The Polar Express.” Then, when they get to the North Pole, Santa and his elves will come aboard, and your kids will get a gift. Finally, they’ll head back to the station, singing Christmas carols along the way.
That sounds like a fun day, doesn’t it? Get some tips to make it even more magical.
Bring a Copy of The Polar Express
You can buy a copy of The Polar Express when you buy your tickets, or you can bring your own copy along with you. Either way, it’s a good idea to take the book on the train. Kids are encouraged to read along when the train’s chefs read the book to them. They’ll love reciting the book with others, so grab a copy and bring it.
Wear Your PJs
Forget about dressing up for the Polar Express. People are encouraged to wear their PJs on the train ride. That doesn’t just mean the kids. Adults should also dress in their favorite pajamas. Think of the crazy memories you’ll create with your little ones when you’re all decked out in comfy PJs. Just make sure you bring a jacket as well. It can get chilly on the boarding platform.
Buying Tickets
There are a couple of things to keep in mind when buying tickets. First, you have to buy an even number of tickets. What if you have one adult and two kids? No problem. Just have your kids bring another friend along with them. The more the merrier, after all.
Also, if you’re going with a big group, one person needs to get all of the tickets. Otherwise, you might not all get to sit together.
