As the weather warms up in Palestine, we all want to get out and enjoy spring. Luckily, there’s a great festival designed to help you do just that. Get ready for all the fun for the next three weekends at the 81st Annual Dogwood Trails Celebration. The celebration will stretch from March 22 to April 7. Here are just some of the things you can look forward to.
Weekend 1 – March 22-24
The big story for the first weekend is the Dogwood Trails Music and Arts Festival. On Saturday, March 23, the festival will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with food vendors, arts and crafts, kids’ activities, and more. Check out the Dogwood Festival Parade at 10 a.m. through historic downtown and old town Palestine. Or browse the Artist Tent in Redland’s parking lot for some truly unique art.
Throughout the day you can enjoy street entertainment, art exhibits at Carnegie Library, stained glass tours, and a car show. In the afternoon and evening, enjoy live music in The Hollow featuring Curtis Grimes, Canaan Cox, Cory Michael, and Nick Hickman. There’s plenty to do the rest of the weekend, too, so check out the brochure for more information.
Weekend 2 – March 29-31
The next weekend, take the time to check out Palestine businesses and the local arts scene. The Farm & Flower Market will have not only beautiful plants but also local honey, homemade soap, and other handmade items. Go shopping form 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 30. For little ones, there will be a fairy tea party and photo shoot with costumes provided. Call 225-316-8129 for more information. When you’re hungry, check out the wine tasting and lunch specials at Texas Vinyard & Smokehaus or brunch at Sabor a Pasion.
Weekend 3 – April 5-7
The final weekend of the festival is all about the outdoors. Run a 5K, picnic in Davey Dogwood Park, go on a Pecan Orchard Tour, or enjoy free guided hikes at Ivy Payne Wildlife Refuge. No matter what activities fit you and your group the best, you’ll love seeing all the natural beauty our area has to offer.
