  • 5 to 6 pounds of well-trimmed fresh beef brisket
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ cup liquid smoke
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons celery salt
  • 2 teaspoons lemon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • ½ cup water

Preparation

The preparation for a Texas brisket is fairly simple. It’s the cook time that will be the hardest part. Smelling the delicious meat from your oven for hours will make you the hungriest you have ever been.

  • Preheat oven to 275°F
  • In a large Pyrex baking dish, mix all the ingredients for your sauce.
  • Lay your brisket in the baking dish with the fat side down, and turn it over once to coat it with the sauce
  • Seal your dish with aluminum foil tightly
  • Bake at 275°F for 5 to 7 hours, or about one hour and 15 minutes per pound
