The Farm & Flower Market Is Back on Main Street

Vegetables at Farm & Flower Market

Anyone who has lived in Palestine for a reasonable amount of time has learned to look forward to the Farm & Flower Market. These markets always have the best selection of fresh produce, flowers, crafts, and more. If you were lamenting that markets weren’t done regularly enough, you weren’t alone. Palestine listened, and now the markets are once each month, giving you more chances to find the perfect items.

Farm & Flower Market

The schedule for the Farm & Flower Market in its new monthly form is easy to remember; it is the third Saturday of every month. The next one will be Saturday, August 19th. The market begins at 8 a.m. and lasts until 6 p.m., giving you nearly a full day to browse and buy whatever you need.

What You’ll Find

The Farm & Flower Market gives you the chance to buy handmade as well as homegrown items from dozens of vendors. The exact vendors will vary from month to month. However, you are always guaranteed to find fresh fruit and vegetables along with amazing flowers, including single flowers, bouquets, and potted ones. You should also expect to see non-flowering plants, like herbs and greenery, for sale. You also can find homemade jewelry, crafts, art, rustic furniture, metal art, wood décor, wind chimes, birdhouses, unique art for the yard, and more.

Take a closer look and you will notice local honey, farm fresh eggs, homemade salsas, native trees and plants, ornamental seedlings and trees, soy candles, glass artwork, handmade baskets and wreaths, baked products, homemade sweet breads, and more.

Enjoy the Farmers Market Any Day

If you can’t attend August’s Farm & Flower Market, don’t worry. You can check it out in September, and until then, visit the regular Palestine Farmers Market. The market is part of a long tradition as it was first developed by area farmers back in 1998. It was created as a spot for growers as well as other creators to sell wares, letting Palestine residents find locally-sourced produce. Today, the market is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., letting you find fresh items nearly any day of the week. Every single item you see for sale at the market is produced, grown, or handcrafted by the vendors themselves. On a normal day, you can find baked goods that don’t need to be refrigerated, nuts (coated and uncoated), fruit pies, dry mixes, pickles, roasted coffee, dry tea, herb mixes, dolls, plants, jewelry, and more.
