Give These Grilled Fish Tacos A Try

Grilled Fish Tacos with Avocado Fresh Salsa and Kale Coleslaw on Cinco De Mayo

Are you hosting a gathering for Cinco de Mayo? If so, add these delicious, grilled fish tacos to the menu. Your guests will be impressed and delighted. Best of all, they’re not hard to make. It only takes five easy steps to have these tacos ready for assembly. Read on for a quick tutorial.

Step 1 – Prep Your Ingredients

First, gather all of your ingredients. It’s best if you prep everything beforehand, so chop up your garlic and onions, slice your cabbage, and measure everything out. You can wait to peel your avocados since they won’t be added until you assemble the tacos, and you don’t want the slices to brown.

Step 2 – Marinate Your Fish

Make a marinade by combining the following ingredients in a large bowl.

  • 2 finely chopped garlic cloves
  • 3 tablespoons of orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon of oregano
  • 1 cup of chopped white onions
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons of lime juice

Sprinkle your fish with salt and pepper and set it to the side. Then, grab a glass baking dish and spread half of your marinade onto the bottom of the pan. Layer the fish on top of the marinade, then spread the remaining marinade on top. Cover the pan and place it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

Step 3 – Make a Lime Mayonnaise

While the fish is marinating go ahead and make a lime mayonnaise to serve with your tacos.  In a small bowl, whisk together a cup of mayonnaise, one tablespoon of milk, and 2 tablespoons of lime juice. Set it aside. Right before you’re ready to cook the fish, peel, pit, and slice two avocados. Set them to the side.

Step 4 – Grill Your Fish and Tortillas

Heat your grill to medium-high and brush the grate with olive oil. Grill the fish with some of the marinade still clinging to it.  It will only take about three to five minutes per side and the center will be opaque when the fish is done and. Next, grill the tortillas until they are slightly charred. Be careful not to burn them, as they only takes 10 seconds per side to cook.
