Granny Muffin Wines has been a part of Historic Downtown Palestine since 2009. It is right in the center of Historic Downtown, meaning that you have likely walked by it a dozen times or more even if you haven’t stopped in yet. Wines and Tasting
Most of the time, you have to go outside of the city to find somewhere that makes its own wines, but Granny Muffin Wines breaks that trend. It makes its own wines and then has them available for tasting right in the tasting room. The selection is truly impeccable–perhaps the best in Palestine–and I have never been let down. You will find wines made from grapes that have grown around the world. On the same day, you may get to taste an Argentine Malbec, a California-grown Merlot, a Spanish Tempranillo, and more. You will always find white wines, blush wines, dessert wines, lite wines, and more.
These wines are all delicious, and the rose or blush wines have actually earned awards! Granny Muffin’s White Zinfandel earned medals at both the Lone Star International Wine Competition in Texas and the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition in New York, while the White Merlot earned silver during the Florida State Fair Wine Competition. Some of the dessert wines feature chocolate, or you can try the Sweet Cabernet Franc, a red dessert wine. Lite wines offer a lower alcohol content without sacrificing flavor and come in varieties like Peach Apricot Chardonnay and Green Apple Riesling.
The Tools You Need to Make Your Own
In addition to selling wine and offering tastings, Granny Muffin Wines has the tools you need to make wine and the supplies for making hard apple cider or beer. You will find yeast, chemicals, juice kits, bottles, and more from big brands. There are cappers, filtering equipment, and corks along with bottles of multiple sizes for both beer and wine.

When you visit Granny Muffin Wines, you can take it as an opportunity to treat yourself and celebrate Thirsty Thursdays. Head to the tasting room to sample a range of options, then buy your favorite and bring it home. Or stop in the store for a hostess gift or a present for someone who is hard to shop for.
Finding the Store and Tasting Room
Since Granny Muffin Wines is right in Historic Downtown Palestine, you shouldn’t have a problem finding it. It is at 301 W Oak Street with a cute store front.
