All aboard! Gather up your little ones and take off on the rails to the Piney Woods Area Pumpkin Patch. You’ll start at the train depot in Rusk and go to nearby Maydelle, where you and your brood can find the perfect pumpkin. Then, you’ll hop back aboard your train and take the Texas State Railroad to your starting point. Sounds like a fun way to spend the day, doesn’t it? Get some details so you’ll be ready to go.
The Details
This fun ride is available on Saturdays and Sundays from Oct. 7–Oct. 29. The train departs at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and you’ll spend 90 minutes at the pumpkin patch.

It’s simple. This place is about so much more than pumpkins.
Yes, you will want to start with the pumpkins to make sure your kid gets the perfect one. That isn’t hard, when you consider the size of these things. You will find a nice, big pumpkin that was made for carving. Your kid will fall in love with the pumpkins at this pumpkin patch.
The pumpkin patch also has Trick or Treat Street. Your kid can grab some candy right here, in a safe environment. To top it off, there are interactive games and prizes. There’s even a bouncy house, and there are food options available for purchase.
Whatever Should You Wear?
Ah, picking out the right clothes is never easy. What should you wear to a farm? Overalls? No, forget the overalls. Wear a costume. If you won’t get in one yourself, at least dress your little one up in a Halloween costume. Kids tend to wear costumes to the pumpkin patch. It makes the entire day more fun. Plus, they’re going to go trick-or-treating, and that’s so much better with a costume. They will get in the Halloween spirit once they have on their favorite Thor or Wonder Woman costume.
You’ll take the train to the pumpkin patch, but you have to drive yourself to most of the places you go.
